A Book of Hours is an artistic journey into an elemental realm of water and light and a deeper mythic time beyond a chronology measured in increments of productivity and schedule. This series comprises eight paintings, drawing inspiration from the medieval tradition of illuminated manuscripts that delineated the passage of day and night into eight sacred intervals for devotion and reflection. Observed from the West Coast and viewed toward the Tasman horizon, each canvas presents a phase of this cyclic odyssey. Each serves as an ikon offering a contemplative pause to ponder the spiritual depths and the transcendence possible and present in these sacred moments.
