Duplicating The Image

‘In this exhibition I am juxtaposing traditional portraiture with a stenciled image of famous Americans.

Like many others of my generation, I share a nostalgia for American pop culture which is so dominant in the western world and beyond.

I wanted to try spray paint, a medium new to me and stencils, to pick out distinguishing features of a person inspired by Andy Warhol and Banksy.

I found using spray paint and stencils fun but technically challenging.’ - Sam Hickson
