THE JOY IN ART

You don’t have to look far to find things to be upset, angry or stressed about. Which is why we would like laughter, happiness, and joy to be at the centre of our emerging artists award for 2022.

 For many years we have known that the creation of art has many positive benefits, increased happiness and confidence, reduced anxiety, relief from stress and a greater sense of accomplishment. More recently we have clear evidence that in engaging in artistic events has a significant positive effect on our health and wellbeing

 As artists it is our role to capture experiences that can evoke emotions and start conversations with our audience. The theme of Mental Health Awareness week for 2022 is “Take time to Korero – A little chat can go a long way”
