田园梦想 Pastoral Dreams - LiLi

Friday 1 Feb - Sunday 24 Feb

Exhibition open 7 days - 10am to 4pm

LiLi was born the oldest of three children in 1958. He was brought up in the 1960s and 70s during the political upheavals known as the Cultural Revolution, which has exerted a certain influence on his paintings. Because of the Cultural Revolution, he spent his whole childhood in the countryside in Hubei Provence. LiLi started showing a passion for drawing and painting since he was a child and in 1981 completed a bachelor's degree from the Hubei Institute of Fine Art.

Most of his paintings describe an ideal harmony amongst human beings and nature and because of his love for traditional Chinese culture, Laozi's and Zhuangzi's philosophy have become key elements in his work.

The Chinese New Year is celebrated on 5th February 2019 and it is the Year of Pig. It is an occasion for Chinese families to gather together and celebrate with a reunion dinner. LiLi will be celebrating with his 86 year old mother in China.  We are honoured that his daughter Amanda will be in the gallery for his opening to represent her father and his work.

Join us as we celebrate LiLi's work and the Chinese New Year. You are invited to the opening on Friday 1 February from 6pm to 7.30pm. On show through to Sunday 24 February, open daily from 10 am to 4 pm.
